- The Department of Korean Traditional Music (undergraduate, Graduate School)
The Department of Korean Traditional Music was founded to preserve and develop Korean traditional music, which has lasted for thousands of years. to the Department began recruiting freshmen in March 1982, and by February 2007, had graduated 675 students. About 34 applicants are admitted to the Department each year, into Majorsof Korean Traditional Instrumental Music (Gayageum, Geomungo, Daegeum, Haegeum, Piri, Ajaeng, and percussion), Korean Traditional Vocal Music (Pansori, Byeongchang, and Korean lied), and Korean Traditional Music Theory and Composition.
Since 1992, the teaching profession course has helped the top 10% students acquire level 2 teaching certificates, qualifying them to work as secondary school music teachers. In addition, academic exchanges with National Taiwan University have internationalized the program and students. - Faculty

The Department aims to promoteKorean traditional music, develop rendition based on tradition, foster musicians to lead the Korean traditional music scene, systemize the academic theory of Korean music, and foster artists able to lay the groundwork for the creation of new trends in traditional music.
